One of my favorite parts of the winter holiday season is not all of the holiday glitz and glam that is usually strung about. The one thing that I love is the scents of the holidays. You know, the smell of a fresh apple pie or pumpkin pie baking in the oven, or the unmistakable smell of a Christmas tree in all of its pine-scented glory.
I am one of those people that can keep those scents around all year and usually do. How do I do that? I found Yankee Candle one day when I was at Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas and it has changed the way I feel about scented candles. These scented candles actually smell like the real thing! From fresh cut grass and pigskin leather, to the light scent of roses or even baby powder, today’s scented candles always put a smile on my face when I light them. Especially the crisp apple strudel one but we will leave that story for another day…
With scented candles, you get all of the benefits of baking cookies or pumpkin pie or your favorite dessert without the effort and calories! And with scented candles, there is not any clean up. You just light them and leave them alone!
I have even found some new candles that smell like a campfire and even crackle like one too! I know how candles work yet I’m not sure how they get that effect, but I am glad that they do. It’s just like the cookie example, all smiles without the actual campfire. There is even one that smells like a freshly cut 2×4!
Another benefit of scented candles is that they provide an inviting warmth for your guests and it shows them that you really care about them being in your home. Whether you are trying to set the mood, relive old memories or create new ones, scented candles give you the best bang for the buck and more smiles per mile than those cheap air fresheners that leave more of a chemical smell than a natural one.
I have my favorites and, even though I try new ones every season as Yankee Candle gets them in, I still always go back to my mainstays since they always bring a smile to my face whenever I light them. If you are looking for a quick smile and you want to add a pleasantness to your home or work environment go ahead and get a scented candle or two, but don’t forget one of those lighter stick things; small Bic lighters just don’t cut it when you are trying to light 3 wicks!

Ow! You didn’t hear about little scented candles? It actually looks like those mini circle candles, but the deference is that, it has scent. Try to use it too :).
