As I said in an earlier post there was a rumor going around that KISS was to announce tour dates and planning to have a residency at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
There are a lot of things that make me smile (1,000 maybe?), but nothing makes me smile more than music especially if that music is a song that I haven’t heard in a while or it’s my favorite band. What happens when it’s a combination of the two? I smile so much it hurts! I just read online that my favorite band, and undeniably the greatest rock band in the world, KISS is adding more tour dates this year and they will be playing about 15 minutes away from me! I’m smiling just writing it!
For those of you who don’t know, KISS is a rock/metal band that has been around since the 70’s and they are still touring, still making albums and still rocking out! I have been to several of their concerts in a few different cities and they never cease to amaze me with their galloping rhythms and strong guitar riffs. To hear that they are going to have a residency in my own town? It was a smile to end all smiles, in fact, I think it could be seen from space!
I realize that KISS or even rock music isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but whether the music is country, gospel and hip hop, if your favorite band announced their tour dates in your town and you have the opportunity to see the show, wouldn’t you smile too? I am not sure if it is the music itself as much as the times that you listened to it that brings back the fond memories and the instinctual smile. Whatever it is, music seems to affect many of us the same way regardless of the style. I think a lot of us get excited about the shows that we aren’t even going to go see; it’s just the thought that that option is available to us that makes us smile.
From the moment the radio DJ announces the tour dates, all of those familiar sounds and feelings come rushing back into our heads and we just can’t help ourselves. We start to remember, maybe hum a few notes or pull out our best air guitar moves and feel the music as our face starts to contort into one of the biggest, goofiest smiles ever. For me, that smile comes from KISS and all of the incredible memories I have of their concerts and their music.
What band would you love to see come to your town? Let us know in the comments.
