Something that always makes me smile is the Spanish speaking soccer announcer when a team scores. I don’t speak Spanish so all I hear is “La lala la la lalala la lala la GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!” and if the guy is really good that “Goal!” could go on for a long time. I wonder what the record is for longest goal announcement when a player scores? Anyone got any info on that please post in the comments.
“The thrill of victory…”
I am not that much into sports anymore. My girlfriend has got me watching a little football now, especially when her Bears are on. I still love Ferrari and Formula 1 and am really looking forward to Formula E where I will be supporting Virgin Racing.
Still one of the things that is fun about sport is when your team or the team you support scores and especially if it is the winning points and especially if your players scores in sudden death. Is there anything more intense than a shootout in hockey? I don’t think so. Each team’s coach selects his five skaters from their team to take penalty shots one at a time against the opposing goaltender with teams alternating shots. Each team gets two shot per round. The winner is the team with more goal scores after five rounds or the team that amasses an unreachable scores advantage before then. Imagine the pressure and the nail biting until your team scores the winning goal. And when they do, it is all smiles right?
Remember the Miracle on Ice? (Sort of back when the Olympics mattered. Before Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur (FIBA) screwed up the Olympics in 1989 and before the Cold War ended?) It was the men’s ice hockey game during the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, New York, on Friday, February 22. Remember how the United States national team, made up of amateur and collegiate players and led by coach Herb Brooks, defeated the Soviet Union national team, which had won the gold medal in six of the seven previous Olympic games? (Eventually Team USA went on to win the gold medal by winning its last match over Finland.) It was all smiles and national pride when that final goal was scored. Do you remember?
He shoots…he scores!
“…11 seconds, you’ve got 10 seconds, the countdown going on right now! Morrow, up to Silk. Five seconds left in the game. Do you believe in miracles?! YES!”
Still gives me chills!
Sports have changed a lot for me. It still comes down to who ever scores the most points or crosses the finish line first wins but since the Olympics are full of professionals competing and there is no more Rocky vs Drago it really has lost it’s luster…at least for me.
It still does make me smile though to see when a team scores to win. Especially when it’s your team.
So what about you? Who is your favorite team? Let me know in the comments. Also, if you know who the best Spanish speaking soccer commentator is give him a shout out.
Do you believe in miracles?
I still do.
Football is a kind of game that makes you worry free and live a life that you always wants. Whenever I feel sad, I steps on the pitch. Hats’off to those who invented this awesome game.

Hey, great article!
I love sports, especially soccer. I play it since 2006. Beside this I also watch it a lot and I know the feeling of how commentators say when the goal is scored 😀

Football is the only game that is being played by more than nations. What I like the most of it is kicking the ball. Sometimes thinks don’t go according to plan and the pitch gets to much intensity, but in the end, we shake hands and sort out everything. This is the best part of this beautiful game.
Thanks regards,
Sam

Football AKA soccer is one of the popular sports of all time. The intensity and fan base is so huge that every match get to have large number of crowds. The short time game play makes it even more interesting. Love it being a passionate soccer coach myself. Anyways, thanks for the wonderful post.
